I work on my own, without a shop — should I buy this or the Mechanic Portal?
Buy the Mechanic Portal. Both cost the same and include the same job board, tech pub library and A&P apprentice tools; the difference is the directory. This membership lists YOUR SHOP in Phalanx Aviation, the Mechanic Portal lists YOU — so aircraft owners find the company or the name, whichever you trade under.
How many apprentices can my shop connect?
Five. Each seat lets you connect an A&P apprentice, manage them, and digitally sign their OJT records by ACS category. Basic preserves the records for every apprentice on your roster up to five seats, keeping the full signing history intact — the record trail an FAA inspection expects.
How do the job-board leads work, and how many are there?
The Job Board carries maintenance requests posted by real aircraft owners and operators — about 11 a week, 557 in the last twelve months. Each lead shows the owner's name, email, phone, tail number, aircraft make and model, and the type of work requested.
What is in the Tech Pub Library, and what if a manual is missing?
500+ aviation manuals — maintenance, service, IPC, engine and avionics. If we do not have the one you need, request it: if we can source a digital PDF, we will add it to the library free.
How does the premium Phalanx Aviation shop listing work?
Your shop gets a full-featured listing in the Phalanx Aviation directory that aircraft owners search for a maintenance business, plus a full-featured apprentice recruiting listing for hiring.
Is there a contract? Can I cancel? Does the price go up?
No contract and no commitment — come and go as you please. Your rate never rises while you stay subscribed. The price-lock promise ends if you cancel.
What happens to my apprentices' OJT records if I cancel?
You keep them. Records you sign are your records too. After cancelling you keep your free supervisor account and can still view and download everything you have signed, including verification letters, from your All Records area.
Does my shop need a repair station certificate?
No. You do not need an FAA Part 145 repair station certificate to perform aircraft maintenance, and you do not need one to sign A&P apprentice OJT records — see 14 CFR 65.77.
