The Mechanic Portal is Grease Pilot's membership for independent A&P mechanics who want more work. It combines a job board of real aircraft-owner maintenance requests, a tech pub library of 500+ manuals, a premium listing on Phalanx Aviation, and the tools to recruit, connect with and sign off OJT records for up to five A&P apprentices. It has been sold under that name since 2019 and is the Mechanic Basic tier of Grease Pilot Business.

Yes. When Grease Pilot moved from its old website to Grease Pilot Business, the Mechanic Portal became the Mechanic Basic tier: same benefits, same monthly price, same price lock, and one login that now works across Grease Pilot Business and Grease Pilot School.

This membership lists YOU in Phalanx Aviation, the shop membership lists YOUR SHOP — so aircraft owners searching for a maintenance business find the company rather than a name.

No licence check is required to subscribe, but the listing, the job leads and the A&P apprentice sign-off tools all assume you can legally perform and sign for the work you take on — so this membership is written for certificated A&P mechanics. Buying for a business rather than for yourself? The Basic MX Shop Membership lists the shop instead of an individual.

Aircraft owners post the work they need (annuals, repairs, avionics, pre-buys) with their name, phone, email, N-number, aircraft type and airport. Members see every post and contact the owner directly; there is no bidding fee and Grease Pilot takes no commission. Owners posted 557 requests in the last 12 months.

500+ manuals today: 350+ aircraft, 90+ engine and 20+ avionics titles covering maintenance, service, IPC, engine and avionics documentation, readable from a phone or tablet in the hangar. If a manual you need is not in the library, request it from your account. If we can obtain it, it is added to the library at no charge.

After you subscribe, you complete the Premium Listing form inside your account. Your full-page listing (services, location, contact details) then appears in the Phalanx Aviation directory that aircraft owners use to find a mechanic, and it can be found through Google as well. Mechanic Free, Grease Pilot's free A&P mechanic membership, registers you in the Phalanx Aviation database with a limited listing; the Mechanic Portal unlocks every listing feature.

There is no contract. You can cancel from your account at any time and your access continues to the end of the paid month. While you stay subscribed your rate is locked and never rises; the lock ends if you cancel and re-join later.

You keep them. Records you sign are your records too. After cancelling you keep your free supervisor account and can still view and download everything you have signed, including verification letters, from your All Records area. The free plan supports one connected A&P apprentice; you choose which one to keep when you cancel, and you can keep supervising and signing for them.
